The Cruelty Free Brand List UK

Have you ever had a problem when you are out and want to quickly pop into a pharmacy or department store to grab some beauty or hair products but don’t quite remember which brands are actually cruelty free? I’ve had this issue on several occasions and end up kicking myself because I buy a product which looks great but later on find out they’re actually not cruelty free.

Well, this shall happen no more!

I wrote this because although there are some amazing cruelty free lists already (such as here and here) I haven’t found a list that also covers small brands sold in British pharmacies and supermarkets. Below is a list of beauty brands that are easily available within the UK (and potentially the rest of the world depending on the brand) that you could find when popping into somewhere like Boots, Superdrug, John Lewis or just online.

This list is a work in progress which I hope to update whenever I learn of new brands and have new information. I have tried my best to make this list accurate but I’m not perfect so please let me know if you think there is something incorrect or let me know of anyone I should add! Unfortunately, I feel that when researching companies, it is a game of trust because you can never be sure how valid their claims are.

Brands checked as vegan are, of course, 100% vegan throughout all their products and the brands checked as vegan friendly have some products that are vegan but not all.

All the brands listed are cruelty free which means they do not test on animals or have stores in China (where by law, products must be tested before they can be sold to the public). However, I have also listed brands that are owned by parent companies that potentially perform animal testing and/or sell in China. I understand that many people have mixed opinions about still purchasing from the subsidiary so I have included them anyway.

Brands marked with an asterisk * are ones which are quite vague or there are mixed responses to whether they are completely cruelty free. I encourage you to do your own research so you can decide for yourself 🙂

Happy shopping everyone!

  1. Such a great post idea and super useful for reference – always try and make sure brands I use are vegan 🙂

  2. I’m definitely bookmarking this page! I’m trying to go cruelty free with my entire lifestyle and it can often be unclear as to which brands are vegan/don’t test on animals/etc, thank you for this!
